About Callum
Hi, I’m Callum! I’m a Bachelor of Science graduate in Biochemistry with a strong background in math and problem solving. Through my university studies, I’ve spent a lot of time working through complex material and learning how to break it down in a clear, practical way.
I’m patient, organized, and reliable, and I aim to make learning feel approachable rather than stressful. Outside of academics, I enjoy staying active, spending time outdoors, and sports. I know that math can be frustrating for a lot of students, so I focus on creating a supportive environment where questions are encouraged and progress feels achievable.
I take pride in being prepared for each session and adapting my explanations to match how each student learns best. My approach as a tutor is focused on clarity, structure, and building confidence. I aim to help students truly understand mathematical concepts rather than memorize steps, using clear explanations and breaking problems down into manageable parts. With a background in biochemistry, I am used to working through complex material logically and explaining ideas in a way that makes them easier to grasp.
A typical lesson begins by reviewing what the student is currently working on in class and identifying any areas of difficulty. From there, I walk through concepts step by step, using examples and guided practice to reinforce understanding. Lessons often include working through practice problems together, followed by independent attempts with feedback to ensure the student feels confident applying what they have learned.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my patience, adaptability, and strong academic foundation in math through science. Biochemistry requires regular use of algebra, functions, data interpretation, and problem solving, and I bring that structured, analytical mindset into my teaching. I am also comfortable adjusting my pace and explanations to suit different learning styles, especially for students who may feel anxious or discouraged by math.
