About Jessica
My name is Jess, a 2nd-year biology student at Durham University. I have always had a passion for teaching, with much informal teaching experience in the form of teaching younger siblings and family friends. This led to me becoming a professional tutor whilst at university. I have loved seeing my past students improve their academic skills in the subjects I tutor, and what I enjoy most is seeing my pupils grow to love their subjects the more we work together. Based on past tutoring work, I am confident in my abilities to make my students achieve their full potential, whilst still providing a fun and friendly learning environment. I am very approachable and encourage my students to ask questions. I am good at working with both very quiet and loud personalities.

My lessons usually last an hour. I like to frame each session around a specific set of aims and objectives, and use interactive activities, as well as past paper questions to both, keep students engaged whilst familiarising them with the exam format. I have over 135 hours of professional tutoring experience. I have experience teaching sciences at KS3 and GCSE levels, as well as teaching biology at A-level. I can also help provide biology stretch work for students wanting to prepare for studying a biology-related undergraduate degree.
