About Matthew
I am a PhD-qualified bioengineering researcher with over 7 years of experience in biological research and a current postdoctoral position. My background allows me to teach biology at both academic and research level, helping students build strong understanding and confidence in complex topics.
I take a professional and structured approach to tutoring, adapting each session to the student’s level and goals, whether that is exam preparation, coursework support, or dissertation guidance.
My focus is on clarity, understanding, and academic improvement, helping students not only perform better in exams but also develop the skills needed for higher-level study and scientific thinking.

My tutoring approach is focused on building deep conceptual understanding rather than memorisation. I help students understand biological and biomedical concepts clearly so they can apply them confidently in exams, coursework, and academic study.
I use a structured but flexible teaching style tailored to each student’s needs. Sessions typically include breaking down complex topics into clear steps, reinforcing understanding with examples, and developing strong exam technique and problem-solving skills.
For more advanced students, I provide support with scientific writing, data interpretation, and dissertation or research project guidance.
Typical lesson length is 60 minutes, with longer sessions available for dissertation support or intensive revision.
