I like to use a practical approach to teaching. Often I try and give real life examples to explain processes especially in biology as they can be quite complicated to get your head round. I believe using active recall in the form of flash cards and past exam questions. I have found this is the best method for exam success. My sessions will be around 60/90 minutes as it is quite hard to concentrate for more than that especially for a child in secondary school.
I am a graduate of Biomedical science from Lancaster university and I am undertaking another degree in Medicine at Anglia Ruskin university. I have experience teaching fellow students both during exam periods to understand concepts and throughout the year; holding clinical sessions teaching clinical skills. My lessons are aimed for primary/ GCSE students, however I’m happy to discuss sessions for A level students too.
Hi I’m Maryam and I am currently studying Medicine. For me I’ve found it extremely difficult to understand how to do well in school and at exams. At school I was constantly underestimated and wasn’t challenged enough. I feel like I have a duty to not only teach how I wanted to be taught, but to build up your confidence as this can be the biggest reason why you struggle during school. Over the past years I have been looking for the best ways to optimise my learning and have been experimenting with different techniques. I understand people all learn differently and I will work hard to find what best suits you.
I want to start tutoring now as I feel confident enough in my abilities to help others succeed.
My first session is free, this will be more of a get to know you and your study needs and expectations.
