I start off my tutoring by finding the method that best suits each of my students, for me it took a while to realise this but when I did I caught on much quicker. Then when this is established we go through each area at a time and use example work to see where it's going wrong and build up confidence and key skills to remember that will come in handy during exams.
Despite choosing a university degree in science, I achieved my best result in my psychology A-Level, and if I can go from E's and U's to an A within the year so can you! It's by far my favorite subject and I'll be especially keen to go through the biological approach.
As a new university student, I’m keen to start working and to take full advantage of my natural diligence and attention to detail. I proved to be a great independent worker when I volunteered in Kenya this year, as it often required me to take initiative and find solutions on my own that have transferred well into my everyday life and I believe would make me an ideal candidate for nearly any job. Being a student has made me much more adaptable, and I am happy to work difficult hours and be as flexible as possible too. My eventual goal is to gain more experience that will help prepare me for post-graduation in a few years as well as to build upon my interest in the working world.
MARCH 2016 – JUNE 2016
SALON ASSISTANT, STUDIO J HAIR AND BEAUTY
As a first part time job, working temporarily at Studio J was a great introduction to working with people thanks to my duty to greet, make conversation with, and answer questions from clients. I was also responsible for maintaining the establishment, washing hair and handling appointments when the reception required it. This is where I realized my administrative skills and enjoyment for it and I hope to continue this kind of path in the future.
NOVEMBER 2016 – MARCH 2017
FRONT OF HOUSE STAFF, THE GREY LADY
Another temporary job, my time at the Grey Lady was valuable in really making me push past my social anxieties and as a result I’m much more skilled at masking my shyness and being approachable and outgoing. I was responsible for seating customers and bussing tables, preparing food and drink orders, keeping the restaurant clean and dealing with reservations.

CoPE Award
On top of my A-Levels, I was awarded the CoPE certification for spending a month each in Ecuador and Kenya, in 2016 and 2018 respectively. I managed to reach the requirement by showing examples of; working with others, improving own learning and performance, problem solving, planning and carrying out a piece of research, communication through discussion and giving an oral presentation.
SKILLS
• Excellent computer skills from intensive use in school and personal life
• Administrative skills
• Ability to communicate in person and on paper as shown in various presentations required for school. • Keen eye for detail
• Ability to work as a team, a recent example being an improved grade on a group project due to my good delivery of feedback.
• Able to manage time and priorities in line with needs of the business
ACTIVITIES
Until I recently moved I was a very active member of my local football team to socialize and keep fit, it was a key part of my extra-curricular activities and I will hopefully find something similar here in Lincoln. In terms of skills I became much more reliable and collaborative.
Carrying on from my GCSE learning, I’ve dedicated myself to using other resources to learn French and practise it regularly in hopes to one day become fluent.
