I have taught privately for the last 9 years, working with adults and children to achieve their music goals whether that be preparing for ABRSM exams, learning for fun, working towards performances or gigs. My approach to learning piano and music often draws on creative activities such as short compositions, improvisations and exploring relevant music to allow students to gain a comprehensive and holistic understanding and experience of music-making. In addition, when working on piano technique I use visual imagery and aspects of the Alexander Technique, encouraging students to avoid any tension in their playing and allowing them to gain a sense of freedom in order to further develop their tone. In regards to genres of music, I have worked with students exploring a range of genres from classical, songwriting, pop and jazz and as a result have also included basic vocal technique and songwriting exercises into lessons when it is appropriate.
I am a Birmingham-based composer and musician, currently working with the Welsh National Opera Education Department and Friction Arts. In terms of my qualifications, I hold Grade 8's in Piano, Voice, Music Theory and Clarinet and have since gone onto achieve a MusB (Hons) 1st class at the University of Manchester and a MMus in Compostion (Distinction) at the Birmingham Conservatoire. As a composer my work has been supported by the PRS Women Make Music Fund, Jerwood Arts, Sound and Music, and was featured on BBC Radio 3 as part of Making Music's Adopt-A-Composer Scheme earlier this year. As a community practitioner, I have worked in a range of contexts including hospitals, care homes, schools, SEND settings on behalf of a number of organisations including SWBH NHS Trust, Cheltenham Music Festival, Oxford Lieder Festival and the Live Age Festival.

It is difficult finding a good piano teacher (they can play but can they teach?), and Chloe was recommended to me by someone else after I had spent a lot of time comparing and contrasting profiles. I'm glad she was!
A composer as well as an excellent piano teacher, composition has formed an important part of my lessons alongside her teaching me to play. I wasn't expecting it when I started but have really appreciated this, as it allows me to think about music, alongside the progress I am making in my playing. Chloe has recently been teaching me online too - not an easy skill - but which has also worked very well.
I would not hesitate to recommend Chloe to teach children or adults alike, who are seeking a highly skilled, passionate, and patient piano teacher.
