About Tom
My name is Tom Cykman. I’ve been playing guitar for over 15 years and teaching for more than 10, working with students of all ages, levels, and nationalities. I studied music at university and guitar at the renowned Conservatório de Tatuí. I'm also the guitarist in Jota P’s quintet — he’s a saxophonist, flutist, and composer who has won two Latin Grammys alongside Hermeto Pascoal.
Today, I have over 450 students enrolled in my online courses from all around the world.

I teach Brazilian music as a native who truly lives and breathes it! You'll learn to play any Brazilian genre in a simple and effective way — both electric and acoustic.
I also offer lessons in jazz guitar, chord melody, fingerstyle, and a wide range of other musical styles!

I have been taking lessons with Tom for more than 2 yeas. He's taken me from a guitar novice through many jazz songs and standards and taught me improvisation from the ground up. I've learned about chord melody, interpreting harmony, many many many ideas for improvising and stringing together a solo. I'm still hard at work and there's a lot to do.
