About Dana
With 8 years of piano teaching experience and nearly 300 students successfully guided, I offer lessons tailored to high school students, college learners, and adults. My focus is on developing technical ability, musicality, and performance confidence, while fostering creativity and expressive playing.
My teaching philosophy emphasises discipline, consistency, and emotional connection with music, covering posture, hand coordination, finger independence, scales, chord transitions, rhythm, sight-reading, and musical phrasing.
Lessons are adapted to each student’s pace and goals, balancing technical exercises, theory, and repertoire practice, and I provide strategies for effective home practice to ensure steady improvement. Many students have performed confidently in recitals, school events, and competitions, while others have earned high distinctions in graded examinations.
My aim is to create a supportive, motivating, and inspiring learning environment where students feel confident, encouraged, and empowered to reach their full potential.

My methodology for teaching piano balances structure with adaptability. I believe students learn best when lessons are clear but flexible enough to meet individual needs. I adapt my instruction based on each student’s learning style, whether visual, auditory, or practical.
I emphasise strong technical foundations, including scales, arpeggios, rhythm exercises, hand coordination, and dynamic control. I guide students step by step, ensuring they understand both how and why they play each piece. Flexibility allows me to modify lesson plans based on progress and comfort level.
Collaboration is central to my approach; I work closely with students to set realistic goals and choose music that inspires them. Positivity creates a safe environment where students feel confident to experiment and perform. In addition to piano lessons, I teach music theory, harmony, sight-reading, and beginner composition to support complete musical development.
