About Shivani
I am a dedicated high school student with a strong background in mathematics and a current AP Calculus AB student. I have a solid understanding of foundational math and arithmetic, and I enjoy helping others understand concepts that may initially seem difficult.
As a tutor, I take a patient, organized, and personalized approach. I understand that every student learns differently, so I focus on explaining concepts clearly, checking for understanding, and giving students plenty of opportunities to practice. I want students to leave each lesson feeling more confident in their abilities, not simply with a completed worksheet.
I take my role as an instructor seriously and come prepared for each lesson. Whether a student needs help with homework, wants to strengthen their fundamentals, or is preparing for an upcoming test, I will tailor our sessions to their specific needs and learning level.
My goal is simple: to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing the confidence to solve problems independently.

Math does not have to be about memorizing a bunch of rules and hoping you remember them on a test. My goal is to help students understand why a method works so they can use it confidently on their own.
I am a high school student with a good background in mathematics. Because I am still a student myself, I understand that sometimes a concept makes sense when a teacher explains it one way but becomes much clearer when it is explained differently. I will adjust my explanations and pace based on what works best for each student.
A typical lesson will start with a quick review of the topic and a few questions to see what the student already understands. We will then work through examples together, breaking each problem into smaller steps. After that, the student will try problems independently while I provide guidance when needed. We will finish by reviewing the main ideas and addressing anything that is still confusing.
I want my lessons to be comfortable, encouraging, and interactive. Students should feel comfortable saying, "I don't understand," because that is exactly what tutoring is for. Rather than simply giving students answers, I will guide them toward figuring out the process themselves.
My lessons are designed for elementary and middle school students who want extra practice, need help with a specific topic, are preparing for a test, or simply want to become more confident in math and arithmetic.
If math currently feels confusing or frustrating, that's okay. You don't have to be "a math person" to get better at it. We'll take it one step at a time and work toward making those problems feel much more manageable.
