About Scarlett

Hi! I’m a student musician based in the Bay Area, and I’ve been playing double bass since fifth grade!

I’m currently a member of the California Youth Symphony’s Advanced Orchestra (CYS), where I regularly participate in rehearsals and performances. I also won Second Prize in the Guangzhou round of the Hannover Music Competition and advanced to the Singapore round.

Music has always been a huge part of my life! Through years of learning, practicing, and performing, I’ve gained valuable experience that I’d love to share with my students.

I also have experience teaching private string instrument lessons, especially working with beginners. As a music student myself, I understand the challenges of learning an instrument, and I hope to make that journey more enjoyable and rewarding for others!

About the lesson

As a double bass player myself, I know that learning this instrument can be challenging at first, but also incredibly rewarding!

My lessons focus on building a strong foundation, including proper posture, bowing techniques, intonation, rhythm, and music reading. I also love sharing my own experiences from orchestra rehearsals and performances to help students become more confident musicians.

Whether you’re picking up the double bass for the first time or already playing in a school orchestra, I’m happy to help you work on your technique, practice more effectively, and prepare for concerts or auditions.

Most importantly, I want my students to enjoy making music rather than feeling pressured to be perfect.

Lessons are available in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese!
