My teaching style is a mixture of building analytical skills and exam prep. For half of my lesson my student and I will discuss the text and its themes, and build up the students confidence in analysing these. We will then practise how best to articulate those ideas in an exam, giving the student the best possible chance to succeed.
I am a PhD candidate in English at the University of Cambridge. I have a BA and MA in Comparative Literature from King's College London. I taught English in Shanghai, China for a year and have three years tutoring experience. I have taught and tutored at all levels for all ages.
2019: Began job teaching English Language and Literature in Shanghai with Education First.
Contributed an article entitled “‘Fork-Tongued on the Border Bit’: A Brief History of Brexit & the Irish Border” to Ceremony student journal.
2018: Presented paper entitled ‘Partition in Ireland and India: Complicity, Violence and Authority in Train to Pakistan and Resurrection Man’ at King’s Comparative Literature conference.
Won second prize in the Arthur Terry essay competition for the BCLA.
Won Student Prize in Comparative Literature for best grades in the year.
Founded and Led an MA postcolonial research and discussion group.
Worked for Manning’s Tutors and through them volunteered to tutor victims of the Grenfell disaster.
2017: Became the student ambassador representing Comparative Literature at KCL open days.
2016: Became part of the reviewing team for the Shakespeare 400 festival.
Became a founding contributor to ‘Electric Ghost’, a film criticism website.
Wrote and Directed the play ‘The Afterlife of Richard Dawkins’ with the King’s Players.
Founded and organised ‘The King’s Playwrights’ New writing group.
2015: Became a Comparative Literature representative on behalf of my year.
Became a regular contributor to The Strands blog, writing reviews, essays and poetry.
Became a staff writer and co-founder of Little-Whiskey.com.
