I studied music with the Suzuki method since the age of 4, and incorporate the thorough, creative, and engaging style into my teaching of any subject.
I have been fortunate to have been taught by inspiring tutors at my current university, and following their influence, I take a patient, thorough, friendly and encouraging approach to academia. I am keen to help students of all skill levels make lasting improvements to their performance, and to build up their academic confidence.
I base my teaching style on learning being engaging, fun and relevant as I believe that is the best way for anyone to process and most importantly retain information they need for a class.
My tutoring style is not only in-depth and closely tailored to my students’ needs, but also holistic. A crucial part of an impressive student or candidate is not only their aptitude at close-reading or contextual knowledge, but also a broader appreciation of associated arts, including the art of essay writing, and the academic work which surrounds texts.
I teach by assessing student’s grasp of an area by giving an overview, and then hone in on areas of interest or difficulty.
My teaching method is to nurture students to achieve answers themselves so they can complete exams/homework quickly and effectively without me simply telling them the answers. In preparation for exams, practice papers can be completed together to take the fear away. They can also be completed outside of the session. Incorrect answers will be tackled again until the student fully understands.
I base my classes on the requirement of each individual student. We will outline the areas which require most work and create a plan to suit the student. Each class will be structured and will allow us to breakdown complex areas in simple, easy to understand parts.
I am a recently trained and qualified Primary teacher and graduated with a First Class Honours Degree reading in Drama and Film Studies. I am currently undertaking a Masters to become a trained Dramatherapist. My expertise cover subjects across the Key Stage 1 & Lower Key Stage 2 curriculum. I also teach English as a foreign language.
I believe in a personalised, tailored approach to learning, which benefits the student and helps them build in confidence as well as skill. All academic teaching will cover a mixture of revision of previously learnt material as well as consolidation and new material. Oxbridge and University admissions tutoring includes Personal Statement help and interview prep.
