About Richard
After studying maths at Cambridge, followed by five years working in the City and qualifying as an actuary, I now devote my time to tutoring maths, playing the piano and composing music. As a largely self-taught musician I have relied on my deep analytical training to identify challenges and solve problems, which has led to a wide range of performance experiences, most recently with members of the London Symphony Orchestra. Studying and working with maths has been vital to so many aspects of my life, so I love to help students become independent and thoughtful mathematicians.

I started teaching karate at an early age, and since then I have enjoyed being a volunteer tutor and training professionals as part of my consulting work. Each tutorial hour is focused on example questions, carefully selected to identify each student's strengths and challenges. Happy working with students of all ages.
