About Sumeya
Hi, I’m Sumeya! I’m a caring, approachable and enthusiastic person who genuinely enjoys learning and sharing what I know with others.
I’ve always loved understanding how things work and asking questions, which is what led me to pursue a career in science and research. I’m naturally patient and enjoy finding different ways to explain something when it doesn’t click the first time.
Having been a student myself not too long ago, I understand that studying can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when you’re preparing for exams or struggling with a particular topic. I want my lessons to be a space where you feel comfortable, supported and confident enough to ask questions without worrying about getting something wrong.
Outside of studying, I enjoy keeping active, spending time with friends and family, and getting involved in different activities. I’m also a native Spanish speaker, so I’m happy to share my language and culture with students who are learning Spanish.
Most importantly, I want students to leave each lesson feeling like they understand something a little better than they did before, and hopefully with a little more confidence in themselves too!

I’ve always strived to achieve my best and live by the Latin quote, ‘Prepare to fail if you have failed to prepare.’ This is the same mentality I will bring to our lessons. I believe everyone has potential, and I want to help you get the most out of every lesson.
I’m caring, compassionate and approachable, and I want you to feel completely at ease with me. No question is a silly question! I believe that learning from our mistakes, practising and using repetition are all key to achieving success academically.
The effort I have put into my education has helped me achieve grades 8s and 9s at GCSE, followed by A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at A-level. I then went on to study Applied Medical Science at University College London (UCL), one of the world’s leading universities, where I achieved a First-Class Bachelor of Science degree. I continued my studies with a Master of Science in Precision Medicine, achieving a Distinction, and I am now undertaking a PhD in cancer research.
Throughout my education, I have developed strong revision techniques, learnt how to break down and understand difficult content, and developed strategies for approaching exams with confidence. I want to share the knowledge and skills I have gained to help other students reach their own goals and realise their potential.
Whether you’re struggling with a particular topic, preparing for an exam or simply looking to build your confidence, I’m here to help!
With my academic background, I can offer graduate-level knowledge and insight in Biology. For Maths, Chemistry and other sciences, my tutoring is primarily focused on GCSE and below, where I can help students build a strong understanding of the fundamentals and develop confidence.
I also offer Spanish tutoring as a native Spanish speaker, and can support students with their speaking, writing, reading, grammar and vocabulary at a range of levels.
