About Catherine
I am a certified English teacher with four years of classroom experience and a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in English. I currently teach 8th grade Pre-AP English and have extensive experience working in inclusion and intervention settings. Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students across a wide range of ability levels, from students who need additional academic support to advanced learners.
My classroom experience has given me a strong background in reading comprehension, writing, grammar, literary analysis, test preparation, and skill-based intervention. I understand that students learn differently, and I am experienced in identifying skill gaps and adjusting instruction to meet individual needs. As both a classroom teacher and private tutor, my goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, build confidence, and become stronger, more independent readers and writers.

I begin by identifying areas of strength and areas that need improvement, then create targeted instruction and practice to build confidence and skills. I can help with reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, essay development, literary analysis, and school assignments. As a certified English teacher, I use classroom-tested strategies while adapting each lesson to the student’s learning style and pace. My goal is not just to help students complete an assignment, but to help them develop skills they can use independently in the classroom.
