About Julia
I am a certified Suzuki violin teacher and have taught music theory and history to students of all ages in private music studios and as part of summer camps. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Samford University where I took courses in advanced and atonal music theory. I currently provide academic support to students The Catholic University of America and am on faculty at Harmonia School of Music and Art.

I believe that ear training and targeted listening are key to understanding theoretical concepts. Likewise, I hold that it is important learn music theory in conjunction with music history and understand the greater transformation of music over time. Important strategies in learning theory include dictation, solfège practice, listening practice, and learning to implement theoretical concepts in one’s own music-making.
