About Satoshi

A native of Japan, Satoshi Kanazawa is a New York City-based composer of classical and contemporary music and pianist. His original music and arrangement works are performed in the U.S., Canada, Belgium, and Japan. Kanazawa received many awards and grants such as Shelley Pinz Professional Development Grant (2017), Hirosaki Sakurano Sono Composition Competition (Grand Prize with Hirosaki City Mayor Award and Hifumi Shimoyama Award, 2015), Lin Yao Ji International Competition for Composition (Grand Prize, 2014), NYFA Artists’ Fellowship with the additional title of Gregory Millard Fellow (2013), and the 6th JFC Composers Award (2011). He is also active as a pianist and frequently performs in and around New York. He released his first debut CD, entitled "Flowing Blue", by Mar Creation Records, New York in 2009 to showcase his unique style of music. His music encompasses a wide variety of styles and genres - from tonal music to atonalism, and from serious music to children's music. His works include solo, vocal, chamber, and orchestral pieces.

Kanazawa has more than 25 years of experience teaching piano and composition as well as music theory and ear training from the age of 5 to preparatory students and adults.

Offering exceptional musical experiences for all ages and levels with a lot of fun and learning, I specialize in teaching classical music from early to intermediate levels at young ages (5 years old and up).

[Primer Level] Focuses on building basic skills such as technique, reading music, ear training, and basic theory. Students will learn the fundamentals of music.
(30-minute lesson: $55/lesson)

[Basic Level] Expanding basic musical skills including technique, sight reading, and rhythm training. Students will learn how to express music based on music analysis.
(45-minute lesson: $75/lesson)

[Intermediate - Advanced Level] Acquiring wide varieties of significant repertoire from Baroque to contemporary music. Students will continue to develop proficient techniques for various expressions with style analysis. Music theory and harmony lessons can be provided upon request.
(60-minute lesson: $95/lesson)
**90-minute lesson is available upon request.

In-home lessons will be also offered in Manhattan, Queens, and some Long Island area and a travel fee will be additionally incurred for each travel besides lesson fees.
