About Harold

As a voice teacher with extensive experience both onstage and in the studio, I help singers transform their voices into dynamic instruments capable of both technical excellence and emotional depth. Over the past 9 years, I’ve coached students of all ages and backgrounds—from middle school beginners to professional artists refining their sound. My lessons are rooted in healthy, evidence-based technique: diaphragmatic breath control, tension release, balanced phonation, and resonance awareness are all central elements of our work. I help students sing with efficiency, consistency, and versatility, regardless of their musical style. We work across genres including musical theater, pop, singer-songwriter, and vocal jazz, with the flexibility to explore cross-genre creativity and unique vocal color. But singing is more than technique—it’s also about communication. I guide students in lyric analysis, performance presence, and emotional delivery, encouraging them to bring their whole selves into every song. We use tools like studio-grade audio playback, looped practice tracks, and guided improvisation to keep learning engaging and insightful. I also coach students through auditions, recitals, demo recording, and original composition. Many of my students have gone on to lead school productions, get cast in professional theater, record EPs, and earn scholarships for music programs. My goal is to help each singer cultivate a voice that feels natural, expressive, and uniquely their own—while gaining the confidence to share it boldly with the world.

The human voice is a living, evolving part of who we are—shaped by our bodies, minds, emotions, and environments. My teaching philosophy embraces the interconnected nature of voice by focusing on Breath, Story, Diversity, and Autonomy. Breath is the foundation of all vocal sound, and I begin with awareness-based techniques that help singers connect to their breath not just as a support mechanism, but as an expressive source.

We develop consistent, grounded breathing habits that reduce tension, support tone, and foster vocal longevity. From there, storytelling becomes the central thread of our work. I believe that singing must communicate something real, whether it’s a personal experience, a character’s emotional arc, or a shared cultural message. Through character analysis, text interpretation, and dynamic experimentation, I guide singers to become compelling storytellers who can move an audience with both subtlety and power.

Diversity informs everything—from the music we sing to the ways we discuss and respect the histories behind them. I expose students to wide-ranging genres and encourage multilingual and multicultural exploration, so their repertoire reflects a broad and inclusive world. This not only deepens their technical range but encourages empathy and curiosity. Autonomy is my ultimate goal as a teacher. I help students become independent musicians who understand how to practice smartly, make informed artistic choices, and continue growing long after our work together. Through a blend of rigor and play, reflection and challenge, I strive to create a studio where singers feel deeply supported in both their craft and their confidence.
