Hey there!! I’m Iz, and here’s a short-ish description of my services! Here’s a list of subjects I specialize in: College courses: Biochemistry, biology, chemistry (both general and organic), physics, calculus, precalculus High school courses: All math/science courses Note: I am skilled at tutoring people with ADHD! As someone who has ADHD, I have extensively studied methods for learning with ADHD. My approach to tutoring involves a few simple steps! 1. Before discussing the student’s specific questions, I always figure out their preferred learning style(s). I want to ensure that my explanations match the student’s learning preferences. 2. I assess the student’s current level of understanding about the topic they have questions about. 3. I use the student’s preferred learning style to explain/demonstrate the concepts to them. 4. I use example problems to assess their understanding. I teach them psychologically proven techniques to help them practice and remember the concepts we discussed. 5. If the student has a specific homework question they came to discuss, I help them apply the concepts we previously discussed to answer the question. A few strategies I use: - Active engagement. I don’t want the session to be mostly me talking at the student. I ensure that the session involves active responses and questions from the student. - I ask the student questions throughout my explanations so I can modify my explanations as needed and ensure that they are thinking critically at all times. - I help the student develop a study routine and teach them psychologically proven strategies to succeed outside of our sessions.
