About Samuel
I have always had a deep passion for science. It allows us to explain the world around us and it is so exciting to learn how our universe works from the smallest particles to the largest galaxies.
Science didn't always come naturally to me when I was at school, so I relate to a lot of the difficulties of the subject, but it means that I understand the importance of having a teacher that approaches learning from different angles, with patience and calmness.
I was inspired to pursue chemistry by the infectious enthusiasm of my secondary school teacher, who was able to turn it from my least favourite subject to the one I enjoyed the most, even convincing me to study a whole master's degree in it. I will always bring the same enthusiasm to my lessons - after all, how is a student meant to enjoy science if the tutor doesn't enjoy teaching it?
I have experience teaching science to years 7-10 and have a deep understanding of physics, chemistry and biology. The only feeling as good as finally grasping a tough concept is when you help a student to do the same.

Science can be difficult by nature - I find it important to explain one problem area using a variety of approaches until the student finds a method that makes sense to them personally.
Understanding - I place an emphasis on understanding key concepts deeply, and applying the understanding to problems. Questions in science papers cannot always be answered with simple knowledge recall, but instead rely on the student having a true understanding of the content.
Practice makes perfect - tutoring can be most effective when a student is trying to work through setsof problems so any gaps in understanding can be addressed as they are exposed.
