About Carleigh
I am a STEM-enthusiast with over nine years of teaching and research experience. I have a B.S. in biochemistry with minors in math and neuroscience from Bridgewater College, and a Ph.D. in translational biomedical research from Virginia Tech. My research experience spans a variety of fields from analytical chemistry to neurobiology. I have worked with students as an academic coach, tutor, and teacher since my undergraduate career in a variety of contexts and levels. I care deeply about helping my students reach their academic goals, and I aim to instill students with the confidence and long-term skills to attain them.

I aim to empower each student to reach their goals by catering lessons to their specific needs. I offer the first complimentary lesson to listen to your specific situation and together develop a plan for improvement. The layout of subsequent lessons depends on the needs of the student, but I generally meet with students once or twice per week for one hour. Lessons can include reviewing material from class lectures, completing homework problems together, reviewing previous exams, future exam preparation, and providing additional practice problems. I involve evidence-based active learning strategies in every lesson. I offer tutoring sessions in a variety of STEM subjects at the high school and college level including AP chemistry, AP biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, neuroscience, algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calculus. In addition to these subjects, I also offer academic coaching sessions to help students with time-management strategies, study skills, and exam preparation. I also offer 12-week SAT and ACT prep courses. I have both in-person and online availability, as well as group tutoring at a discounted rate. Please contact me with any questions.

Rate depends on the course level, number of students, and mode of tutoring. This type of tutoring works best when students all need tutoring in the same course with the same professor or teacher.
