I'm a BSc (Hons) Chemistry graduate with some teacher training behind me. I'd like to tutor in Chemistry to pupils aged between 11-18. I try to keep things light and fun, but sometimes you need to knuckle down I'm afraid! I try to be as constructive as possible, and I believe that wherever there's a will there's a way!
I've not tutored before, but I have 6 months experience of teaching Chemistry from KS3 all the way up to A-Level, with an average improvement in my students grade during the time I taught them, and one student I was personally mentoring moving up from a U to a C.
For Key Stage 3 tutoring, I'm willing to charge £10 an hour, with 20% price drops for multiple hours as shown on my standard rate. Because I often travel using public transport, if you need to cancel I need to know at least two hours beforehand, but I don't charge for cancelled lessons unless I've already set out, as I've then incurred a travel cost.
I worked as a student teacher for 6 months at a school in Lichfield before having to withdraw from my teaching qualification due to illness in the family. Before that, I studied my BSc (Hons) Chemistry at Bangor University in North Wales, where I volunteered frequently with various outreach programs, including volunteering as a demonstrator for the annual Hidden Worlds Exhibition.
