About Alex
I am a competitive chess player and experienced coach with a Chess.com rating of around 2600 in Blitz and Bullet and a German national rating, DWZ, of approximately 2100.
I have almost two years of paid coaching experience, including private lessons and school chess, and I have worked with children, teenagers and adult students.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, which has shaped my teaching approach. I focus on clear reasoning, structured thinking and understanding the ideas behind moves rather than memorizing theory without context.
I am calm, patient and direct in my feedback, and I adapt my teaching to each student’s level, goals and available training time.
Lessons are conducted in English. I also speak Ukrainian, Russian and German. I am currently based in Germany and teach students internationally online.

About the lesson

My lessons are built around your own games, goals and recurring mistakes rather than a generic textbook programme.
We will work on calculation, tactical awareness, positional understanding, practical endgames, opening structures, time management and tournament preparation.
Each lesson combines game analysis, clear explanations and practical exercises. After the lesson, you receive targeted homework, annotated positions and a specific training objective for the following week.
For junior students, I can also provide parents with regular written progress updates.
The first free session is a 30-minute assessment used to evaluate your current level, identify the main factors limiting your progress and create an individual improvement plan.
My lessons are suitable for ambitious juniors and adults from beginner level to approximately 1900 online. Lessons are conducted in English.
