About Miao Lin
Hi, I'm Miao Lin from sunny Singapore!
I first picked up the seal script (篆书) and regular script (楷书) of Chinese Calligraphy at the age of six, and continued to hone my craft during my schooling days. After I started working, I picked up the clerical (隶书) and running scripts (行书) in Chinese Calligraphy (there are a total of five different scripts in Chinese Calligraphy) and seal carving.
Although I have learned the conventions of Chinese Calligraphy which seeks to achieve stylized strokes from famous scripts, I am also exploring shifting away from the traditional rules and integrating modern elements in my work. If you choose to take lessons with me, you can indicate the area of your interest to focus on learning Chinese Calligraphy as a technical skill or as a creative way to express yourself (eg. zendoodle or intuitive painting).

For Technical focused class, we will cover:
- how to hold and use the brush
- the basic strokes of Chinese writing
- the form and structure of words
For Expressive Arts class, we will cover:
- how to use the brush
- using brushstrokes to express our thoughts and feelings
