About Chengyu

Welcome to Authentic Mandarin Learning

Greetings to all aspiring Mandarin learners! My name is Chengyu Lu, and I'm here to guide you on a transformative journey into the world of Mandarin. As an international student hailing from China and now immersed in the U.S. educational system, I bring a unique blend of authentic Chinese culture and modern pedagogical techniques to the table.

Professionalism at Its Best:
Every lesson I curate is backed by meticulous planning and a deep understanding of both Chinese and American educational standards. My commitment to excellence ensures that each session is not only informative but also meets the highest standards of language instruction.

Legitimacy You Can Trust:
Having been a student in both China and the U.S., I've experienced firsthand the challenges and rewards of language learning. This dual perspective equips me with the insights to offer you a genuine and effective Mandarin learning experience. Moreover, my emphasis on integrating "Chengyu" (traditional Chinese idioms) into our lessons provides a rich cultural context, setting the foundation for true language mastery.

Confidence in Your Learning Journey:
Rest assured, with me as your tutor, you're in capable hands. My lessons are tailored to cater to each student's individual needs, ensuring that you not only learn Mandarin but also gain an appreciation for the culture and history behind it. Your success and growth as a Mandarin speaker are my top priorities.

About the lesson

Hello, fellow students! As an international student from China, I'm excited to bring you an authentic Mandarin learning experience. My journey from China to the U.S. has equipped me with a unique perspective that I believe will enrich your Mandarin studies. Here's what you can expect from my lessons:

1. Teaching Method and Techniques:
I employ a balanced approach that combines traditional methods with modern pedagogical techniques. While I emphasize the importance of mastering the basics, such as tones and Pinyin, I also integrate multimedia resources, interactive exercises, and real-life scenarios to make learning engaging and relevant.

2. A Typical Lesson Plan:

Warm-up with a review of the previous lesson's vocabulary and structures.
Introduction to a new topic or grammar point, supported by visual aids and examples.
Interactive exercises and role-playing to practice the new concepts.
Discussion of a chosen "Chengyu" (Chinese idiom) to deepen cultural understanding and enrich vocabulary.
Homework assignment that reinforces the day's lesson and prepares students for the next topic.
3. What Sets Me Apart:
My lessons are not just about language acquisition; they're about cultural immersion. As someone who has lived in both China and the U.S., I bridge the gap between these two worlds, offering insights that textbooks can't provide. Moreover, I place a special emphasis on "Chengyu" – traditional Chinese idioms that offer a window into Chinese history, culture, and philosophy.

4. Who Are These Lessons For?
Whether you're a beginner just starting your Mandarin journey, an intermediate student aiming to refine your skills, or someone preparing for an advanced level exam, my lessons are tailored to meet your needs. They are suitable for students of all degrees, levels, and classes. If you have specific requirements or interests, such as business Mandarin or Chinese literature, I'm more than happy to customize the curriculum for you.
