Hello! I have over 18 years experience tutoring music working with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland & privately. I am enthusiastic and determined & I get great enjoyment from pupils progressing. Lessons are tailored to individual needs.

I teach Violin, Scottish Fiddle and Music Theory.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have a Bachelor of Arts (Scottish Music) degree form the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (formerly Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama)

- How much do you charge?

Half hour lessons are recommended for children: £14. 45 mins lessons recommended for adults or children preparing for exams are £21. I can travel to most of the West side of Glasgow and surrounding areas, however, I may have to consider travel time. Lessons are usually taught in my music room at my own home in G14.

I teach in my "music room" at home or it may be possible to visit you.

Background

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have taught privately and as an instrumental music instructor for the MUSICWORKS programme ran by the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for over 15 years.
Privately, lessons are based round the needs and wants for each individual. I teach pupils to read music or they can learn by ear, we can work towards ABRSM exams - many of my pupils achieve merit and distinction grades. I prepare pupils for SQA exam performance, auditions & competitions. I tutor ABRSM grade 5 theory where my pupils have obtained distinction passes. I focus on improving technique and repertoire.

Please find below, a list of my recent performances:

Battle of the Folk Bands finalist 2018 SKNT GOAT – May 2018
Guest Artist as part of “Martainn Skene Highland Dance Band” at Skye Accordion & Fiddle Festival – May 2018

Many of my students gain distinction in their ABRSM violin exams and have won / gained placements at Scottish music compeitions. (eg The Trade House of Glasgow Schools Robert Burns music competition, Perth music festival)
