About Payton
I have been playing the piano for 18 years, I started when I was 6 years old and never stopped. I graduated with a BA from Tennessee Wesleyan University in music performance, and I have been teaching my own private studio of about 15 students for two years now.

I have mainly been sticking to the Alfreds series for my lessons. If the student is a beginner, we start by learning note values and clapping rhythms, and move into learning the notes on the keyboard in the second or third lesson. We then progress to learning notes on the staff. If the student already has a good understanding of the notes on the keyboard, we start working on reading music on the staff and learning dynamics and how to portray them along with other annotations.
