About Summer
My keen interest in teaching began early on in my academic career. While studying as an international student at the University of Toronto, I tutored high school students in chemistry and math.
Since finishing my Ph.D., I have been focusing my efforts on becoming a teaching-stream professor.
In the past two years (2020-2022), I have taught a wide range of first- and second-year chemistry courses (general chemistry and organic chemistry) at both TRU and OC including CHEM 1500, CHEM 1520, CHEM 2120, CHEM 2220, CHEM 111 and CHEM 121 with mixed modes of delivery. I also taught virtual labs: CHEM304 and CHEM 305 as well as in-person labs: CHEM 2220, CHEM 111 and CHEM 121.
My objective as a teacher is to motivate my students to develop their own learning interests and critical thinking skills. I respect each student’s learning journey and can adapt my teaching styles/pace to different students.

I am a thoughtful instructor. I believe everybody can learn and everybody learns differently. In my lessons, I often use thoughtful analogies to break down complex concepts into simple ideas. I strive to inspire my students and help them discover the joy of learning.
I started tutoring back when I was doing undergraduate at the University of Toronto. Since then I've done steady tutoring throughout my academic years and now I am a full-time college instructor.
I typically tutor high school science/math students (Grade 11 and 12) as well as first and second-year chemistry students.
