I always try to get to know the student first and see how they like to learn! I have younger siblings, and they all learn differently and grew with the ability to be patient and take time understanding their thought process.
I would normally like to know what range of topics they are learning before hand so that I have time to learn current or new teaching methods to give the student a range of ways to learn their topic.
