My lessons will be fun, capturing and interactive for my students. My lesson plans will entail the 5 Es and differentiated instructions will be applied to fit the learning styles of each of my students.

Topic: “Bl” blend

Attainment Targets: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
1. Automatically recognise words (including basic sight word lists) with “bl” blends at the start or middle of a word.
2. Develop phonemic awareness and use knowledge of letter sound correspondences to decode unfamiliar words.
Specific Objectives:
1. After watching a video entitled “BL Blend | Blue Grass Phonics | Letter Blend Sounds | Phonics Garden”, students should be able to accurately identify words with the “bl” blend with guided assistance.
2. After engaging in a student-centered class discussion,
1. Group one (1) should be able to complete a worksheet about the “bl” blend without teacher’s assistance.
2. Group two (2) should be able to write at least five (5) words that begin with the “bl” blend and create sentences using any three (3) of these words without teacher’s assistance.

Students should participate in singing the “bl” blend song to the tune of the “Three Blind Mice” nursery rhyme after listening the song being sang twice.
Explore
Teacher will display a YouTube video entitled “BL Blend | Blue Grass Phonics | Letter Blend Sounds | Phonics Garden”.

Teacher will play the video a second time and pause at intervals to engage students in a discussion based on the video displayed.
Teacher will have students repeat and give examples of words with the “bl” blend. Students should attentively watch the video being displayed on the television screen.
Students should be able to answer questions asked based on the video.

Explain
Teacher will play a game of hangman. The game will be played by having students guessed the letters that make up the “bl” blend words. Students should engage in the game and guess the letters to figure out the “bl” blend words.

Teacher will give each student a card with a “bl” blend word that they will place under the correct column of the table drawn on the board.
