About Hannah
I am a college student at Portland State University. I have been tutoring for about 4 years, beginning with peer tutoring in high school mostly in history, English, and social sciences, but also in math and science subjects. I have worked with students ages 3-16 in tutoring, assisting with assignment completion, lesson explanation, and online learning success. I worked as a grader and teaching assistant in the Sociology department at my university most recently, as well as a teaching assistant at a Portland Preschool.

In teaching younger students, I believe positive reinforcement and encouragement are very important in helping them learn and feel motivated to do so. I like to start by asking students what they feel they need help with or are not quite understanding yet. I ask leading questions to help them toward the answer and go through each part of the assignment/lesson carefully, making sure they are with me along the way.
