About Richard
I'm Richard Chao, a Columbia/NewYork-Presbyterian anesthesiology resident and Pitt MD. I bring 6+ years of advising, 200+ paid consulting hours across medical school and residency, and experience coaching 20+ residency applicants. I've taught MCAT for Kaplan, tutored USMLE Step 1, and served as a Pitt student interviewer. I received Pitt School of Medicine's Mentorship Award and serve as an ASA residency admissions mentor. I help medical school and residency applicants with application strategy, personal statement feedback, and mock interviews. Each session starts with your priorities, includes a focused exercise or draft review, and ends with clear, individualized feedback and next steps. My approach draws on firsthand application experience and years of teaching and mentoring. I also offer separate MCAT and USMLE Step 1 tutoring, with a focus on concepts and practice questions.
