About Kezia
I am a 17-year-old passionate dancer with over a decade of experience, having started my dance journey at the age of 4. My expertise spans various styles, including African dance, Hip Hop, Afrobeat, and K-pop choreography. I am also the leader of a dynamic dance group, where I guide and inspire others to express themselves through movement and rhythm. My goal is to share my love of dance and create an environment where everyone can find joy, confidence, and connection through creative expression.

1. Dance Basics (General)

African Dance Lesson
Objective: Teach traditional African movements focusing on rhythm, grounded movements, and energy.
• Warm-Up (Body Isolation): Shoulder rolls, hip circles, arm swings.
• Steps to Learn:
• Gwara Gwara (South Africa): Start by swaying one knee inward while the body moves side to side.
• Kuku (Guinea): Alternating arms in circular motions, stomping feet with bent knees.
• Practice with Music: Use drum-heavy African beats or live percussion to enhance rhythm connection.
• Combination: Connect basic steps into a short, repeatable sequence.
Hip Hop Dance Lesson
Objective: Teach foundational moves emphasizing groove, swagger, and musicality.
• Warm-Up (Grooves): Head bobs, shoulder pops, and knee bends to a steady beat.
• Steps to Learn:
• 2-Step: Step side-to-side while adding arms and shoulder pops.
• Body Wave: Start at the head and create a wave through the chest to hips.
• Freestyle Time: Encourage improvisation using learned moves.
• Combination: Put together a short routine (8 counts) with variations in speed.
Choreography Basics
Objective: Introduce structuring a dance routine using a variety of learned steps.
• Step Planning: Choose 3-4 moves (from different styles) and transition between them.
• Add Dynamics: Vary speed, levels (low, mid, high), and intensity.
• Cueing and Musicality: Practice syncing movements to lyrics or beats for a storytelling effect.
Afrobeat Dance Lesson
Objective: Focus on contemporary African street dance, blending traditional and modern influences.
• Warm-Up: Fast-paced leg kicks, side lunges, and arm stretches.
• Steps to Learn:
• Shaku Shaku (Nigeria): Shuffle feet while swinging arms with alternating elbows up.
• Legwork: Quick foot taps combined with arm movements (popular in Nigerian Afrobeat).
• Gbese Move: Lift one knee while stepping, leaning forward slightly with arm gestures.
• Combination: Combine 4-8 Afrobeat steps into a sequence to match a popular song.
Cool Down (5 minutes)
• Deep stretches for the legs, arms, and back.
• Focus on breath control to relax and center the body.
