About Phong
Hi, my name is Phong, and I’m currently studying a double degree in Commerce and Computer Science at Monash University, majoring in Econometrics. I’ve always been passionate about learning—but even more so about helping others understand what they once found difficult. I’ve had over two years of experience tutoring Math and Science to students from Grade 4 to 12, and throughout that time, I’ve learned that effective tutoring isn’t just about knowing the content—it’s about patience, communication, and building trust. My approach is always student-focused. I take time to understand each student’s learning style, find what’s holding them back, and tailor my explanations to make the material clearer and more engaging. What drives me is seeing that moment when a student finally gets it—the boost in their confidence and motivation. Tutoring has also helped me grow personally. It’s taught me how to listen better, explain complex ideas simply, and adapt quickly when something isn’t working. As someone who enjoys problem-solving and mentoring, tutoring is a way for me to combine those skills and make a positive impact.

My tutoring style is patient, adaptable, and student-focused. I start by understanding each student’s strengths, challenges, and learning preferences. I believe in building a strong foundation first—making sure the student truly understands the “why” behind each concept before moving forward. I ask questions to encourage critical thinking and always try to explain ideas in a simple, relatable way. If something isn’t working, I’m quick to adjust my approach. Most importantly, I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because that’s how real learning happens.
