About Carmen
Received a bachelor´s degree in Fine Arts with a major in theatre arts in her native Cuba, where she was a theater director, as well as playwright. She has two internationally performed plays and seven published books, one of plays (¿Cuánto me das marinero? 1994); four are novels (Hasta la vuelta 2001, La danza de los abanicos 2006, Donde empieza y acaba el mundo 2012, El inevitable rumbo de la brújula 2016), El barco que nos llevó a la guerra de Angola, 2022) and the research book Etnia, raza y sexualidad en la dramaturgia hispano-caribeña en los Estados Unidos (2021) (Silver Medal, Florida Book Awards 2022).
