About Francesco pio
I'm Francesco Pio Gennarelli, a composer and pianist with over 8 years of performance experience and a Master's in Composition beginning at the Royal Northern College of Music this September.
My work spans classical piano performance, experimental composition, and large-scale endurance projects — including a 40-hour interpretation of Erik Satie's Vexations and a 25-hour performance of John Cage's As Slow As Possible. My piano trio Caught in a Suspended Frame won First Place at the 2025 North London Music Festival.
As a teacher, I bring that same curiosity and depth to my students. Whether you're a complete beginner finding your footing at the keyboard, or an aspiring composer wanting to develop your own musical voice, I tailor every lesson to where you are and where you want to go. I'm equally comfortable teaching classical technique, music theory, and original composition.

Lessons are tailored entirely to you — there's no one-size-fits-all method here. In our first session we'll talk about your goals, your experience, and what kind of music excites you, then build from there.
For piano students, I focus on technique that actually transfers to real repertoire — posture, touch, and musicality from day one, not just scales in isolation. You'll be playing pieces you enjoy as early as possible.
For composition students, I'll help you take ideas out of your head and onto the page. We'll cover everything from basic harmony and structure to more advanced techniques like motivic development and form — going as deep as you want to go.
Lessons are available online or in person, and I'm flexible with scheduling. Progress happens fastest with consistency, so I'll help you build good habits between sessions too.
Whether your goal is to play your favourite song, pass a grade exam, write your own music, or just finally understand how music works — we'll get there.
