About Zane
I've been a pianist for sixteen years with experience in a wide variety of musical traditions including classical, jazz, and popular music. I have a bachelor's degree in music composition (contemporary classical) and a master's in musical theatre writing. My compositions include long form dramatic works, stand-alone songs, and instrumental pieces, all of which are born out of my desire to translate music theory principles into musical storytelling. In high school, I taught myself the AP Music Theory course and exempted out of the two semesters in college. Music Theory has always been a passion of mine, and I'm eager to share what I know!

I teach at any level from the very beginning of music literacy/basic notation through the college-level tonal music theory sequence. If you are taking a music theory course in school, lessons can follow alongside the topic you cover in class. Alternatively, we can address student-specific questions/struggles, or provide an overview of a particular topic of interest. Lessons will be structured around the needs of the student.
