About Latifah
Hi, I'm Latifah! I'm passionate about English language and literature, and I'd love to help you build stronger skills with confidence.
My experience with tutoring started informally — helping younger cousins and family members with their schoolwork — before I took on a more formal role as a peer tutor. Alongside that, my background in debating and public speaking has sharpened how I explain ideas clearly and break down complex material, and as Vice President of my campus book club, literature is something I engage with regularly, not just something I studied once.
I take tutoring seriously: I prepare for every session, I'm reliable with time, and I genuinely care about my students actually understanding the material, not just getting through it. I believe learning English should feel like a conversation, not a lecture. Rather than just giving answers, I focus on the why behind things, so students build skills they can use on their own. My debating background helps me break ideas down clearly, and as Vice President of my campus book club, I bring real enthusiasm into every session. I teach in English, with lessons that are relaxed and interactive, mixing guided questions and practical exercises tailored to whatever the student needs (whether that's a set text, an essay, or exam prep).
My lessons are aimed at Grade 8–10 students working on literary analysis, essay writing, grammar, and exam prep. I'm patient with students who feel unsure or intimidated by English, and I focus on helping them genuinely understand the material, not just get through it.
