About Eleanor
Hi tutees and tutee families! My name is Eleanor and I am in the Con-Ed/Bachelor of Science Honors program at Queens, which means I want to become a teacher eventually, fingers crossed! I have been drawn to tutoring since my vice-presidency at my high school's peer tutoring club, and have since then pursued helping multiple tutee families through both volunteer and freelance work. I have a passion for good education, which isn't always what students are given, unfortunately. I am looking to change that!

In math, the most important thing is understanding, not memorization. This is why it is one of the most important subjects to get one-on-one help with, to ensure that the tutee has a deep understanding of the math and builds a strong foundation to improve upon in the future. So many students give up on math because of gaps from past years, and with one-on-one help I can help to fill those gaps. My technique is to start with some assigned problems, see what the student understands, and to teach the student the things they need clarification on. I try to avoid lecturing as much as possible because it is something that the student can get from a video online, or from their teacher in class, and instead I focus on the specific things that the student needs help with and in ensuring that they can work through all of their assigned homework. I have experience teaching math to students from grades 6-12, and high school data management as well.

Perfect! Eleanor was an excellent tutor! She was able to teach in such a way that my daughter was able to grasp. She's now getting A's in math this year.
