All levels welcome.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
My method of teaching is recognised as one of the most successful in the UK. I can prepare my students for grade exams, entry to the Royal Schools of Music and University.
I teach my students individually, assessing at every lessons their strong and weaker points. All done in a supportive environment.
Through my 22 years of experience, I have developed an understanding of each of my students' needs. I believe each students has their own talent!
I will be listening to you and making a plan to decide how can we achieve your goal.
I am also very open minded with repertoire and like to include film music, jazz pieces amongst the curriculum alongside technical studies and great pieces of the classical music repertoire.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
Online tutoring available through Skype.
This can include consultation for level assessment, technical aspects and remote preparation for exams and concerts.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Don't let past experiences put you off. I often have new students contacting me before almost giving up, thinking they had no talent. In fact, I have been shocked at how many times they had been taught badly and had been left with so many gaps in their musical education. All this can be resolved and real progress can be made.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have 22 years of experience teaching piano, unparalleled experience as a performer of both classical music works in Chamber Music as well as solo concerts, recordings for various labels (Champs Hill, Discovery Records), contribution to BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 3, BBC One etc.
Stephen Pritchard, music critic for The Guardian, recently hailed my latest recording for the label Champs Hill as attaining “new heights of passion, […] artistic questing finding a beautiful sense of line […] and delivering joyful exuberance.†Giving it a highly recommended mention.
I am also a published composer with Faber Music alongside towering figures such as Paul McCartney, Dame Evelyn Glennie and Jonny Greenwood.
I have previously taught masterclasses for young musicians as far as Brazil.
I have had the chance to perform in many well known venues in the UK such as the Cadogan Hall and the Hackney Empire, the Cheltenham Music Festival, Canterbury Festival, St George's in Bristol as well as international concerts in Europe, South America and the United States.
Some of my students have been offered places at the Royal College of Music, The Conservatoire Superieur de Musique de Paris, Trinity College, Goldsmith University.
I also am very experienced in teaching adults which I enjoy very much due to the very different approach in teaching. Starting later in life is possible, I have adults who have started with me as beginners and now are taking their Grade 8 piano exams.
