About Eriko
I am currently a freshman at Wellesley College pursuing a double major in International Relations and Music. From a young age, I performed piano competitively. My awards include: Winner of the Chicago Area Steinway Young Artists Competition; and a Gold Medal at the 2010 Seattle International Piano Competition, Youth Division. I performed twice at Carnegie Hall's Weill-Recital Hall as the Winner of the 2010 American Fine Arts Festival and a First Prize Winner of the 2011 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition. In 2015, I was the Winner of the DePaul University Piano Concerto Competition and performed with the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra. In 2015 and 2016, I won 2nd and 3rd place, respectively, in the Lee University International Piano Competition. In 2016, I performed with the Round Rock Symphony Orchestra as the Winner of the Texas State International Young Artist Piano Concerto Competition. In 2017, I received a Discretionary Award from the Southeastern International Piano Festival Arthur Frasier International Piano Competition. In 2018, I performed at the Chicago Symphony’s Orchestra Hall with the Civic Orchestra as a finalist in the Crain-Maling Foundation Chicago Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Competition. Also, in 2018, I received second place in the Young Artist Division at the Baltimore International Piano Competition. I was the First Place Winner of the 2019 Steinway Junior Piano Competition, Senior Division. I have also performed as a soloist on WFMT FM Chicago's Introductions. I also was an Academy Fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago from 2018-2020 where I studied Music Theory, Chamber Music, Piano Improvisation, Piano Literature and History, 4-Hands Piano Music, and Piano-Violin Duo Music.
My non-profit fundraising efforts include recitals in: Japan; Lesa, Italy; Chicago; and Huletts Landing, New York. The proceeds from my charitable performances support the victims of domestic violence and the Chicago Uptown community. In June 2019, I was selected to participate in the Chopin Frost Academy where she studied with Dang Thai Son and Kevin Kenner. I have also taken master classes with Gary Graffman, Barry Snider, Boris Slutsky, Enrico Elisi, and Ning An.
As a freshman at Wellesley College, I serve on the Executive Board of Wellesley Japan Club (First-Year Senator), serve as a voting member for the Committee on Organization Recognition and Affairs, play the piano in the Wellesley BlueJazz Ensemble, and am a sprinter on the Track and Field team.

When working with children, I start with basic scales, arpeggios, and technical exercises. I am a very patient and meticulous teacher. I do my best to understand the learning style of a student and will do my best to accommodate their needs. If a student is interested in competing, I have extensive experience in competing and performing so I will be able to meet my student's needs.
