He made stunning progress under her tutelage, developing a strong knowledge of music theory and progressing in his playing. Tanya knows music theory and the history of music very well. Our 8-year-old daughter has been working with her for almost 3 years. She is a hardworking and caring teacher who sets clear expectations for her studens, tracks their progress methodically, and helps them accomplish them.

Tanya is a fabulous teacher. She has taught piano to every child in our family all the way to their adolescence years. My 3 children have been with her for over 12 years and both my niece and nephew took classes from her for over 13 years. She is patient, kind, very knowledgeable and full of energy and love.

Ms. Tatyana was my son's piano teacher for 10 years. In that time she transformed him into a concert pianist. But it wasn't by chance; she has an amazing temperament, a kind heart, and knows when to push and when to let things be. 

Here are the many reasons why I highly recommend Ms. Tanya (as we call her):

- Ms. Tanya comes to your home-- no sitting in after school traffic!
- She can prepare your child for the CMEA exams or piano competitions.
- She is a classically-trained, conservatory-educated, concert pianist. This is important to note. There are many piano teachers who may have a music degree, but not in piano. Most all music majors are required to learn the piano, but they are not concert pianists!
- Ms. Tanya takes a lot of time gaining rapport with your child and choosing music pieces that they will love to learn. Sometimes I wondered why she spent almost the entire lesson playing different pieces before my son would choose one. But once he chose a piece, he loved learning it and would stick with it. 
- There were times when my son would not practice and she knew exactly when to get after him (rarely). She extends the rare, perfect amount of discipline.
- She understands the "end goal." If my son wanted to become a professional musician, then she would have spent more time perfecting his technique. But she knows how to balance working on technique with ensuring my son remained happy and productive learning piano.

Lastly, we love Ms. Tanya. She became part of our family after so many years together. She is a hard-working, kind, funny, lovely human being. I cannot say more kind things about her!

Ms. Tanya doesn’t just “run a lesson”, she can “read” a student in a way that tells her what’s blocking them (lack of confidence, struggle with technique, focus, or just feeling intimidated by the challenge), and then she adjusts her approach so they start improving without feeling pressured. She has deep understanding of music and people, and an incredible talent for teaching. They used to make movies about teachers like that, Madame Sousatzka, Music of the Heart, Mr. Holland’s Opus. She is extremely charismatic and her students range from just a have-a-good-time-hobby folks to students looking to enter Juilliard one day. She is that good!
