About Carola
My name is Carola Baer. I grew up in London, emigrated to California USA when I was 24, and lived in San Francisco for 20 years. I now live in Surrey with my wonderful two daughters age 21 and 18. My creative outlet is playing music; I am a songwriter, composer, musician and singer who still plays in gigging bands after all these years. My band have just released our first album and have a series of live performances coming up this summer and beyond. I have started my own business providing music singing and dance therapeutic and well-being workshops at schools, as well as working as a private tutor. I am most interested in working with pupils who need confidence building and the emotional support that comes with finding out who you are, your strengths and opportunities for you to grow into the person you are meant to be.

I believe in bringing the curriculum to the child and working with the strengths of the individual to foster interest and ultimate engagement. All lessons link to real life scenarios and answer the questions of why we are learning this. Lessons are always taught in creative engaging ways, hands on, visual, and in a step by step fashion to build confidence, fill in any missing gaps or misconceptions. I was an SEN maths and subject teacher for ten years, I have taught mainstream KS2 and KS3 English and History. for many years. I am a qualified musician and composer and use the power of how music can move, inspire and therapeutic release emotions that can channelled into creative writing and expression. I am a fun energetic creative teacher who is able to quickly establish rapport and confidence in pupils.
