As a tutor, my approach is student-centered, engaging, and focused on building confidence alongside skills. As a criminology major, I bring strong reading comprehension, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills into my lessons, helping students not only understand texts but also think deeper about what they are reading.
My teaching method focuses on breaking down complex ideas into simple, manageable steps. I use techniques like guided reading, active discussion, vocabulary building, and writing exercises to reinforce understanding. I also tailor each lesson to the student’s learning style, whether they need more structure, practice, or interactive activities.
A typical lesson usually begins with a quick review of previous material, followed by introducing a new concept or skill (such as identifying main ideas, analyzing passages, or improving grammar). We then practice together through examples, and I give the student opportunities to apply what they’ve learned independently. I always end with feedback and tips for improvement.
What sets me apart is my focus on real-world thinking and comprehension. Instead of just memorizing rules, I help students understand how reading and writing skills apply to everyday life, school success, and future goals. I’m patient, supportive, and committed to helping students feel confident in their abilities.
