I don't believe that the strict relationship teachers and students aids learning, therefore, my lessons will be casual and take an interest in the way you learn best.
You can begin by sending me a message specifying one of two things; the part of theory you are unsure of or the area in which you are lacking cases studies or both. Once I have received your message I will prepare my lesson and we can arrange a skype call that is convenient for both parties. The structure below is very much preliminary as lessons will be catered to each individual student's needs.
The lesson will begin with a discussion of the key points you may be struggling with, dialling into the specific areas that need improving. Once you have become more confident in these areas, I will provide you with a number of relevant case studies and explain how they can be used to back up your argument, this will include back and forth discussion and critical evaluation. Nearer to exam times I will assist with memory and revision techniques that will help you on the big day. Exam technique and exam marking sessions will be available on request. We will do a short exercise a the start of the next session that highlights key points of the previous lesson in order to consolidate your learning.
I will give real-world examples of the subjects discussed so that once the exam has been completed you will still have a firm grip of and a strong interest in Psychology.
I have 5 years of experience learning and conducting research within the field of Psychology, meaning I have a sound understanding of all theory taught up to A level standard. Studying Psychology as part of my degree has given me a huge breadth of knowledge concerning up to date research that would really make your paper stand out in a GCSE or A-level exam.
Majoring in Criminology, I have more specific knowledge in areas such as; Cognitive psychology, Memory, Eye Witness testimony, Stress, Chronic mental disorders such as Schizophrenia and Dissociative identity disorder, Interviewing techniques, Aggression and Group Behaviour.
For those thinking about starting a degree in criminology or criminal psychology, my class will be very useful as case studies given and theories discussed will still be applicable at a degree level.
The first lesson will be free, I encourage parents to get involved during this session to voice concerns and give me a realistic aim to achieve by the end of the sessions. This session will also be used to get to know my student and the way they learn in order for me to plan further lessons.
