About Martha

I am a third year undergraduate reading Music at the University of Oxford. I performed well at GCSE - achieving all 9s - and I received three A*s at A-level. My A-levels were in Biology, Chemistry and Maths with a view to studying Medicine. I applied successfully for medical school, but after just over one year I realised this was not for me and reapplied through UCAS to study music instead. The rigorous working schedule at Oxford has taught me the importance of efficient work and it has highlighted clearly my own strengths and weaknesses. I have ADHD (so am naturally aware of and an advocate for rather quirky, innovative learning techniques!) and have learnt to deal with making overwhelming tasks much more manageable. I am happy to help with structuring essays (at A level and GCSE) and exam technique.

About the lesson

- I will ask students about what they know currently about their style of learning and enquire about what is currently a point of difficult (as well as areas that they are excelling in). This would be the point of the first session so that before continuing, both myself and the student are clear on the methodology that most suits them, as well as an outline of content for the following lesson.
- Methodologies include but are not limited to: worksheets (specific to the exam board), past papers, memorisation methods (sometimes this is just a question of patience!).
- I am new to online tutoring, but have myriad experience with local family friends/family with preparation for 11+ exams and GCSE.
- Younger students are a preference (KS3/GCSE) as I am new to online tutoring.
