About Avery
I am a junior at the University of Texas at Austin with a double major in History and Corporate Communications. I have two plus years as a tutor at the high school level and am currently a TA for a freshman level history class at UT. I understand subjects like history and English can be boring subjects for many students, therefore I try to bring in students interest while studying. This can include pop culture references, sports analogies, movies and TV shows references, and so much more. My main goal is to connect with a student and understand who they are and what they like. This connection will help me best prepare a student for a test.

I understand that for some students history can be extremely boring and overwhelming to study for. Every student learns differently and I create a specific lesson plan for each student I tutor after having a conversation with them. I use tutoring tools like Quizizz and Quizlet that the student can continue using even after our session is done. I am also a strong believer in mnemonic devices and will teach students how to properly use them to help them during a test. For students who want even more practice and help I will make my own test review/study guide from their class materials to help them be as prepared for a test as they can be. Every student learns differently and I make it a point to personalize each student's study session in a way that will set them up for success.
