About Alfie
I'm a current Master's student at SOAS. My work always lies at the intersection between the philosophical and political, the esoteric and material. I believe the that it is the way we relate to ourselves, our communities and ecologies that is central to creating human cultures. This can be understood from one side through political enquiry, and from another side through philosophical theological enquiry.
I am a critical thinker and believe that inspiring the development of this cognition is central to the educational process.
I am a writer, educator, and mentor, inspired to help young people develop not only their intellectual and writing skills, but their cognitive capacity and personality as a whole.

Central to my teaching approach is a focus on encouraging the child to engage with the topic on a personal level, and find the points within the subject matter that can inspire them. It is only after the establishment of a relationship between tutor, student and subject is created that a solid and inspiring learning environment has been created.
I have worked with children and teenagers both inside and outside of the classroom. As a result I have engaged with young people in a variety of formal and informal, rigid and playful environments.
I have a year of teaching experience as aTeaching Assistant and Learning Support Assistant within schools.
I volunteer for a children's charity specialising in outdoor education.
Creativity, curiosity and mindfulness and central my teaching practice so that the mind is fully prepared to engage with subject matter.
I offer sessions betwen 50-90 minutes.
