About Daniel
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have nearly 10 years experience maths tutoring. Originally I tutored just a number of friends' children and this expanded into a part time business, generated by word of mouth and I am now advertising here as I intend to change my tuition to full time.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
I have an up to date clear DBS certificate.
- Do you belong to any professional organisations?
I am a member of the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications. I am also a member of the Open University Mathematics Society.
- Tell me about some of your current students.
Most of my students are Year 5 to GCSE. I have also helped A level students and adult learners. My current and recent students include a girl just about to start Year 8 who I have been tutoring since she was in Year 4, a boy about to start Year 6 with autism, a girl who has just taken here GCSE retakes and we expect her to get the grade she wants this time (I was not her tutor when she took her GCSE first time!) and a girl who has just taken her A levels and we expect to get a top grade before going to a Russell Group university.

I am a mathematics tutor based in Acton and offer tutoring services in the surrounding areas. I've been told that students find me patient and personable with an ability to explain concepts that they are struggling with in a way that they understand.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I tutor mathematics from Year 5 up to GCSE level. I also offer tuition services for adults, for example to help prepare for mathematics career based assessments such as The Functional Maths assessment required for many professions.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a Diploma of Higher Education in Mathematical Sciences. This contains the modules recommended for those teaching mathematics up to A level. I scored distinction in these (top grade). I am currently about to start the last year of a mathematics degree. From my current grades I hope to get a First Class Degree and certainly expect to get no less than a 2:1 classification.
Originally I studied Hospitality and Business Management. I also hold a number of IT qualifications, including the Comptia Network+ certificate and am a certified Comptia IT technician.
- How much do you charge?
I offer a trial/assessment lesson for free. This is to give you a chance to ask any questions and for us to meet and see if we think my tutoring will help. Lessons are then £30 per hour and 2 hour lessons are £50. All lessons are 2 hours for Year 10 and 11 students preparing for their GCSEs.
All lesson costs are fully inclusive of travel and resources.
- Where do you teach?
I offer tuition in the student's home. I live in Acton and tutor in most of the surrounding area. I have a number of commitments and long standing students further afield so please feel free to inquire if you do live slightly further and I will see if I am able to accommodate you.
- When are you available?
Except for a 2 week break in January and a 2 week break at the end of the Summer period I offer tuition all year round. I keep a fairly full diary so please contact me to discuss possibilities. Online tuition is available Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I offer tuition from Year 5 to GCSE. I also offer tutoring programs for adults.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Most of my students are secondary school students and so are ultimately preparing for GCSE.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I offer tutoring online 9am - 4pm Monday to Friday. There are a number of formats I use. Please feel free to contact me to discuss.
