About Diosdado
Hello, my name is Dio Gica, and I am excited about the opportunity to work with you. I hold a Doctorate in Education and possess New York State Education Department certifications in both public and private school teaching. With 20 years of work experience in education, including more than 7 years as an English instructor, I bring both extensive knowledge and practical teaching expertise to the learning experience.
In addition, my areas of specialization include curriculum development and school supervision, which have strengthened my ability to create effective, structured, and engaging learning environments. My goal is to meet you at your current level and help you build confidence and proficiency through practical English instruction that connects directly to real-life situations and everyday communication.

My teaching methods and techniques are centered on carefully assessing each learner’s strengths and areas for improvement. From there, I focus on strengthening knowledge gaps through practical instruction and real-life examples that make learning relevant and meaningful. I believe that language is learned most effectively when students can connect it to everyday situations and experiences.
A typical lesson plan explores topics that align with the week’s learning objectives, ensuring that language development remains contextualized and purposeful. This structured approach helps students understand not only what they are learning, but also how to apply it naturally in real-life communication.
I also speak several other languages, which gives me a deeper understanding of the challenges and experiences involved in learning a new language. While I have spent most of my life in the United States studying English language and literature, I have also gained valuable insights as a language learner myself. I now use tested and proven strategies to help others succeed with confidence.
My lessons are designed for learners of all levels—not only those pursuing academic degrees or certifications, but also complete beginners and intermediate English learners who want to improve their communication skills and build greater fluency.
